With a special tribute to “the piano of the jungle”, the marimba, through the film “El Viaje de la Marimba” by Marino Aguado, the Colombian Film Festival of New York returns to the Quad Cinema theaters, from the 16th to May 19, celebrating its eleventh edition.

Since its founding, this festival has been an essential platform to promote Colombian cinema, offering a unique opportunity for the Colombian diaspora in the tri-state area and for New Yorkers interested in exploring Colombia and its culture. In 2024, the film exhibition will present a carefully curated selection of the best Colombian cinema, highlighting the talent and creativity of filmmakers from that country.

“Reaching 11 years of presenting Colombian cinema in Manhattan is an achievement that we never imagined from the direction of the festival, but that has been possible thanks to the help of a group of good friends and an audience always willing to experience the festival. They see the Colombian Film Festival as a bridge that connects them with their country and their roots through the talent of Colombian filmmakers. We want to thank our wonderful audience for keeping this cultural window open,” said Juan Carvajal, artistic director of the Colombian Film Festival.
