The renowned boxer Vasyl Lomachenko acknowledged that he is in the final stage of his career due to his current age and maintained that he must already be thinking about the moment when he will hang up his gloves; Despite this, he maintained that he still does not know exactly the date on which he will have his last confrontation in the ring considering that he still has a few fights left in the ring.
Lomachenko turned 36 years old last February and for 10 years he has dedicated himself to promoting his career as a professional; However, the Ukrainian boxer considered that he is already “old” to face the new promises of boxing and maintained that he is close enough to retirement to be able to leave the sport as a legend.
“If you’re talking about ages in boxing… I’m old. Of course my career is almost over,” said the European athlete during an interview offered for Fox Sports Australia, where he spoke about how he feels physically at present and the work he has been doing to continue providing a great show in each of the fights he has fought.
These statements were made as part of the preview that Lomachenko will have to win the vacant lightweight title of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) against the Australian George Kambosos at the RAC Arena in Perth, in the oceanic nation; Let us remember that the Ukrainian was considered one of the best pound for pound in 2019 and is once again seeking to reach this place with a belt that allows him to show what he is made of.
“How many years will it be? One, two, three, it’s over. But I still think I have a little power. It’s a tough question (when he will retire),” she added.
“At this point, every fight is hard. It’s hard to recover after fights. “I don’t know what will happen to my body after this fight and that’s why I can’t answer (when he retires),” he concluded.
