The Irish Katie Taylor managed to retain her WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO women’s lightweight belts in the so-called “fight of the century” against Amanda Serrano after enduring harsh punishment in previous rounds. He recovered and boxers like Ryan García anticipated the judges’ decision.

“I just witnessed one of the best fights in history and, in my humble opinion, Katie did it” , wrote the American boxer of Mexican origin after finishing the fight at Madison Square Garden.

Minutes later, the judges saw a split decision that gave victory to the Irish boxer from year old. The final cards had these results: 97-93, 96-93 Y 94-96.

“I have a lot of respect for these women, absolutely inspiring, honored to have witnessed that, I hope you get all the money you deserve and I am so happy that they have looked better than any man I have ever seen”, added King Ry.

After seeing this great battle of today’s best female boxers, there will surely be a second version of this fight that did not have a clear winner. At one point it seemed to be Serrano, but Taylor closed well and convinced two of the judges.

Taylor (35-0) will now ask to fight in Ireland in case the second fight of this confrontation. At least verbally, the promoters in question seemed convinced to negotiate for the million-dollar fight to be repeated.
