A North Carolina woman, who told police her firefighter husband fatally shot himself, is now behind bars, charged with her husband’s murder.

According to a statement , the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office arrived at a home in Seagrove on June 29 after receiving a Called at 911 “regarding an alleged self-inflicted gunshot wound”.

There the officers found Mishael “MJ ” James Auman, 37 years old, alive but unconscious. He was rushed to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.

The police said that the victim was “employee full time in the city of Asheboro and a long time firefighter in Randolph County.”

Auman was also an active volunteer with the Seagrove Fire Department.

“Following an investigation by detectives and consultation with the District Attorney’s Office,” the police statement reads, “an arrest warrant has been issued for Heather Hicks Auman, the wife of the victim, for murder ”.

Heather Auman, aged 37, was arrested last Wednesday and is being held without bail on a first degree murder charge.

She has not yet pleaded guilty, but will be tried on Saturday. Information about her attorney was not available.

The Seagrove Rural Volunteer Fire Department released a statement on Auman’s death, calling it “a devastating blow to our fire service.” county”.

Says, according to FOX 8: “MJ’s infectious smile, outgoing personality and willingness to serve others will be forever missed throughout our county fire service. Our thoughts and prayers are with MJ’s family and friends during this time of loss.”

The alleged murder is still under investigation.
