Spanish midfielder Sergio Busquets expressed his joy this Saturday after his Inter Miami team won the first title in its history by beating Nashville SC on penalties after drawing 1-1 in regulation time.
For Busquets, the growth of Inter Miami has been by leaps and bounds, to the point that in less than a month at the club he can already celebrate just like he did so many times at FC Barcelona.
“I am very happy to be able to get our first title in just a month,” said the player in statements for the Apple TV + broadcast.
The Catalan stated that in the Leagues Cup final against Nashville “the fairest thing was a draw” and pointed out that “luck” smiled on the team in pink on penalties.
He also spoke about how Messi, Jordi Alba and himself have changed the trend of a team that was bottom of the Eastern Conference in MLS for the better.
“We infect the team with our spirit, our work, our character, our experience,” said Busquets, who also pointed out that all his teammates and the coaching staff led by Gerardo “Tata” Martino also have “much merit” for having built “a solid team and difficult to win”.
“And beyond, we also have Leo, who makes the difference because he is the best in the world,” he said.
Messi, who scored another great goal, won his first title with Inter Miami this Saturday by beating Nashville on penalties in the Leagues Cup final (1-1, 9-10 in the shootout).
The Argentine star made his debut less than a month ago with the Florida team and, after seven wins in seven games, guided Inter Miami to the first trophy in its history.
Messi also finished as the top scorer in the Leagues Cup with 10 goals in seven games.
In addition, the genius of Rosario equaled Dani Alves with 44 trophies as the footballer with the most titles in history.
