Although the federal minimum wage is $7.50 per hour, in force since 2009, some states have been fighting to increase it for the benefit of the working class, this has been possible because local congresses have the power to legislate their own.

Some states have set their minimum wage above the federal one and in some cases the increase is recorded every year, others are adjusted according to the cost of living and inflation, but the periodicity is established by local congresses.

But by 2024, several states such as California, Florida and New York, as well as the District of Columbia have already announced the increase in the minimum wage, which exceeds the federal figure.

There are about twenty states in the United States that will increase the minimum wage by 2024, some will be given automatically at the start of the new year, others have dates from the second semester, and in the case of Florida it will apply until September.

Currently, the District of Columbia is the one with the highest minimum wage, since it is $17 dollars per hour and it is expected that another increase will be registered in July 2024, but how much it will be set has not yet been revealed.
