The Ballon d’Or gala held this Monday continues to generate opinions of all kinds from those who do not believe that the winners of the different awards were correct, at least that is what former Chilean soccer player Mauricio Pinilla thinks, who is not satisfied with the awards won by the Argentine Leo Messi and Emiliano ‘Dibu’ Martínez.

In statements issued to the F360 Chile channel, Pinilla questioned the fact that the Ballon d’Or was won by a footballer who plays in the United States. Likewise, he questioned that the World Cup won by Argentina weighed so much in the awards ceremony.

“If you win the Ballon d’Or playing in the MLS, it means that we are all crazy, or that the MLS has become a world power in terms of sports. The World Cup totally weighed, I don’t know why we make awards for the entire year if in the end only one competition counts. Overall, it doesn’t seem to me that Messi has been the best,” said the former Chilean forward.

Finally, he threw a poisoned dart at the ‘Albiceleste’ and Aston Villa goalkeeper, describing the fact that he was chosen as the best goalkeeper of the year as “ridiculous”. “I no longer believe in these awards. “Dibu Martínez’s thing borders on the ridiculous.”

The winners of the different awards given by France Football Magazine left multiple opinions divided as to the winners, and in the case of the Best Player of the Year who was Messi, many believe that the Norwegian Erling should have been awarded. Haaland, who won the treble (Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League) with Manchester City.

As for the best goalkeeper, it was also questioned that the Brazilian Ederson Moraes, also from Manchester City, was not chosen.
