The social network X, owned by businessman Elon Musk, suspended the account of the Lebanese Islamist group Hezbollah for violating its internal rules. This profile had been denounced this Tuesday by Michael Freund, a columnist for the Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post.

“Recently, I found the official account of the terrorist organization Hezbollah on this platform, reported it and encouraged others to do so. I just received the news below that your account has been suspended! Thank you, Elon Musk,” Freund said on the social network.

The activist attached a screenshot of the response he received from X, formerly called Twitter, in which the company informed him that Hezbollah’s account was suspended for violating the violent threats rule.

“We found out that they violated our violent threats rule through different reports we received about their behavior. They are not allowed to create new accounts. “We inform people who have been suspended, the safety rules they broke, and what content broke our rules,” he said.

According to the user, the terrorists were using @Hezbollah_FA, which no longer appears as an active account. But the Efe news agency indicated that hundreds of messages from people who had mentioned it in the hours before its deactivation did appear in the search section.

From the X account of the Consulate General of Israel in New York, the company and Elon Musk were thanked for suspending the Hezbollah account. He also recognized the timely denunciation that Michael Freund made “to raise awareness.”

“No account affiliated with a designated terrorist organization or glorifying terrorism should be free to incite hatred on social media platforms,” the Israeli legation said.

The news agency indicated that, according to The Jerusalem Postthe columnist wrote directly to Elon Musk asking why the Hezbollah account was allowed and reminded him that the group is on the list of terrorist organizations designated by the United States government.
