Shakira has once again spoken with an “open heart” regarding her love situation after her high-profile breakup with former soccer player Gerard Piqué more than two years ago.

On this occasion, the “Waka Waka” singer gave an interview to the media outlet Marie Claire where she revealed that as a result of her failed relationship with the Spaniard, her vision of love has changed.

I can’t say that I don’t believe in love because I see the example of my parents after 50 years together; the way they look at each other, hold hands and the way they can’t live apart from each other.”

Despite the faith she maintains in the love of a couple, thanks to her parents William Mebarak and Nidia del Carmen Ripoll, the “Día de Enero” interpreter revealed that she has not been lucky in love, in addition to adding that “monogamy It is a utopia.”

However, the Colombian also mentioned that despite her failed relationships, she has been compensated in other ways thanks to the love of her children, Milan and Sasha, her friends and, to a large extent, her fans and followers.

My relationship lasted 12 years but my friends will be there for life. When difficulties came, that was when he learned how truly important friendship was.”

In previous interviews, and prior to the release of her new album “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran”, the South American singer mentioned that she was not interested in love as a couple and that she did not see having a husband as “useful”.

Despite the above, Shakira has been romantically linked to actor Lucien Laviscount after the two worked together on the music video for the businesswoman “Puntería.” However, and according to various sources close to the artist, Shakira does not intend to “intensify” this relationship due to her multitude of personal and artistic objectives.

Shakira’s new mission

In the same interview, the singer mentioned that part of the new aspect of life she has adopted consists of raising two loyal boys and “honest men”: “I want them to be men of their word.”
