ohio-grandparents-arrested-in-child-abuse-case-with-physical-and-mental-consequences

An Ohio grandparent couple was arrested for allegedly taking part in the cruel punishment their daughter meted out to their stepson, a boy whom police say was so abused that he developed “atrophy in the legs” and disorder. of post-traumatic stress.

Armin and Susan Rodríguez, from 550 and 68 years respectively, are being held in the Hamilton County Jail, and are charged with child endangerment.

“If there is a victim of this kind of abuse, it is tragic,” Delhi Municipal Police Lt. Joe Macaluso told Fox News. “And when you have someone who is vulnerable, like a child or an elderly person, you get sick.”

Macaluso acknowledged that due to the scope of the abuse suffered by the child, it made the case “difficult to investigate ”.

Part of the alleged punishments consisted of forcing the child to be alone in a room, beating him and restricting his food for years, the victim, his younger brother and other relatives told the investigators, Macaluso said.

“He was not allowed to urinate unless his mother or grandmother gave him permission beforehand,” Macaluso pointed out. “And he wasn’t allowed to eat the same things that everyone else would eat.”

The investigations were initiated by previous charges brought against the father and stepmother of the victims, accused of similar abuse by a neighbor in February this year, added the lieutenant of the Delhi police.

“When the authorities of that jurisdiction did a forensic interview with the child, he reported that the same type of treatment was occurring by his adoptive grandparents in my jurisdiction,” Macaluso said. “He would go to his adoptive grandparents’ house, his daughter would say that he is in trouble and that he should be away for a while or he would be punished.”

The stepmother, Amy Rodríguez, currently faces 11 charges of child endangerment for allegations that he recklessly tortured or cruelly abused the child between January 2018 and April 2018.

Meanwhile, the boy’s father, Anthony Dangel, faces only one charge of allegedly violating the duty of care to the child.

Macaluso stressed that the adoptive grandparents were directly indicted by a grand jury. They are due back in court on June 3.
