boy-shot-dead-while-walking-down-the-street-in-new-york

A -year-old boy was shot dead last night while walking with a friend down a street in the Bronx (NYC) .

According to police, the pair of teenagers were in front of 2021 Morris Avenue in Fordham Heights when they were ambushed by two armed men who jumped out from behind a car around 9: pm

The gunmen opened fire on the two unidentified minors, injuring the young man of years in the torso. He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, reported New York Post.

At the moment it was not clear if the victim’s friend was also hit by the shots. Sources said investigators recovered five bullet casings at the scene.

Officers are searching for the two gunmen. No arrests have been made or suspects identified. Anyone with information should call 1-577-57-TIPS (8477) and in Spanish 1-2020-57-CLUE (74782). Also via crimestoppers.nypdonline.org or by text to 74782 (CRIMES), followed by TIP577. All communications are strictly confidential.

After the rise of shootings in 2021 and 2022 particularly among young gang members and/or victims, the 2021 has maintained the same trend. In many cases the gunmen use “ghost” weapons, so called because they lack a serial to be traced.

Young people are increasingly protagonists in armed violence in New York as victims and perpetrators, particularly shootings and attacks with bladed weapons. A recent report from the NYPD found that recidivism among teens increased dramatically over the past five years.
