Lionel Messi tops PSG's list of positives for COVID-19

The Argentine Lionel Messi is one of the four players in the squad who tested positive in the COVID test – 19 after return from vacation, as confirmed by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this Sunday.

“The four positive COVID players – 19 are Leo Messi, Juan Bernat, Sergio Rico and Nathan Bitumazala . All are currently respecting isolation and the adapted health protocol ”, indicated the PSG.

Tests conducted during the winter holidays and before resuming training they revealed 4 positive cases of Covid – 19 among the players and 1 positive case among the staff. The affected people are under the current Covid protocols.

The Parisian team returned this weekend to training, and this Monday will return to competition , in the round of 32 of the French Cup, against Vannes fourth division.

“Until he gives negative in Argentina he will not be able to travel to France” , said this Sunday the coach Mauricio Pochettino in the press conference ahead of the game against Vannes.

Pochettino explained that Messi is in constant contact with the club’s medical services . “We have been with the virus for almost for two years , I think already We all know what we need to avoid to be infected and still we can infect us ”, he added.

The coach confirmed that in this soccer environment where the contact is inevitable and there is coexistence in the changing rooms there is “much more risk” of being infected, he said in reference to the fact that Bernat was on Saturday with other colleagues.
