You are 12 years old and signed by the current MLS champion. It seems like a dream, but it is a reality for the young Máximo Carrizo, who was signed by New York City FC and became the youngest signing in MLS history.

Carrizo was signed until 2027, with an option for 2028, when it would barely meet 20 year old. He is a product of the New York City FC Academy, which he arrived in 2018 as a player for the U-12 after impressing with the local team FC Westchester, as detailed in the press release published by the New York club.

After four years at the NYCFC Academy, the young man with Argentine roots was invited to the first team preseason at 2015, and this Monday, the day he turned 14 years old, he signed his first contract as a professional.

Carrizo has already played in the MLS Next Playoffs (tournament U-15) and was present at a United States youth team camp.

The midfielder born in the year 2008 broke the record of Axel Kei, who was 14 years old and 15 Days signed with Real Salt Lake in January 2022. He became the 10th New York player to be signed by the team since the NYCFC Academy opened in 2015.

The player was very happy to make history, and also pointed out that he will be patient with the learning process that begins for him with this signing.

Máximo Carrizo will be eligible to play the MLS NEXT Pro League with New York City FC, which would be the third division of professional soccer in the United States, and whose first season will be played this year with 20 reserve clubs for MLS teams, plus Rochester New York FC.
