A woman aged 30 who lives in Clearwater , on the west coast of Florida, was arrested this Monday for allegedly throwing a three-year-old dog from the balcony of a seventh-floor apartment, which caused her death, according to police reports.

Clearwater Police responded to a call at 1200 Mandalay Ave., a condominium in Clearwater Beach, before noon on Sunday.

Eric Adeson told officers that Shelley Nicole Vaughn, of 46 years ago, a woman he had been dating for several months threw their pug, “Bucky”, off the balcony during the disagreement.

“Shelley Vaughn has been arrested for throwing a 3-year-old pug since the balcony of his condominium on a seventh floor in the neighborhood of Clearwater Beach, ”said the Police on social networks.

According to detectives, the incident occurred during an altercation with her boyfriend and, at a certain point, Vaughn grabbed the dog, Bucky”, and threw him off the balcony into the void.

The dog was found lifeless on the pavement of the street, according to the police.

Now Vaughn faces charges for the crime of aggravated animal cruelty, among others.

Adeson told the channel 10 Tampa Bay who adopted Bucky as a puppy when his puggle, Sandy, who then I was years old, was undergoing cancer treatment. The two had been playmates since Bucky first came to Adeson’s house.

“He (Bucky) just celebrated his third birthday,” Adeson said. “I never thought Sandy would outlive Bucky.”

Katherine Neal, an attorney representing Adeson, filed a civil lawsuit against Vaughn Monday afternoon in the Pinellas County Clerk of Courts office, seeking $30,000 dollars in damages.

According to the complaint, Vaughn entered Adeson’s house and appeared to be intoxicated . She was verbally aggressive toward Adeson, and he asked her to get away from her, telling her they could talk later, according to the document.
