Real Madrid striker Marco Asensio was quick to respond to Leo Messi’s statements about the Champions League champion, and let it be known that he disagrees with the Argentine because he considers that the team ‘Merengue’ was a fair winner of said tournament.
This Monday, Messi gave an interview to the Argentine media outlet TyC Sports, in which he pointed out that the team led by Carlo Ancelotti was not the best team in this edition of the Champions League despite the fact that they managed to win it. “The Madrid? The best team doesn’t always win the Champions League”, said ‘Pulga’.
Given this, Asensio was questioned about it in an interview with ‘El Larguero’, in which he replied: “Well I don’t know, to win a Champions League you have to be, if not the best, one of the best. Many games we have had very strong rivals, but in these games we have to take advantage of the opportunities and thanks to the fans we have turned it around. The details make the difference and we are justly deserving”, he pointed out.
It should be remembered that the path of the Spanish team to reach the Champions League final was not easy at all and they overcame all the keys with epic comebacks, in the round of 16 against Paris Saint-Germain, in the quarterfinals against Chelsea and in semis against Manchester City.
