Ten people were killed in a missile attack on an apartment building in the Odessa region, in southern Ukraine, a local official reported this Friday morning.

“The death toll in a residential building rose to ten”, announced the spokesman for the Odessa regional administration, Sergei Bratchuk.

Cited the Southern Operational Command of the Ukrainian Army, according to which the attack came from “a strategic plane from the Black Sea”.

“A missile fell on a nine-story residential building”, specified the army, after adding that another missile hit a recreation center.

Three children injured

“In an apartment building, all nine floors of one section were completely destroyed… Rescuers provided medical care to seven injured people, including three children,” Bratchuk said.

The attack in Odessa occurred days after a Russian attack destroyed a shopping center in Kremenchuk, central Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians.

Thursday, Russian forces abandoned their positions on Snake Island off the coast of Odessa, which had become a symbol of Ukrainian resistance in the early days of the war.
